Father of all,
So often we find ourselves caught up in justifying ourselves and our choices,
make us remember that our trust in you is all that can justify us.
Insofar as we suffer and bear witness to suffering in others, let that suffering result in hope
and set us free from the prison of self-interest.
Make us return to the deep well of your love, poured into our hearts by the Spirit, proven by the Christ.
Still sinners, we hide ourselves in your Son.
Finding ourselves there, make us willing to humble ourselves as he did, even to the point of admitting our lives are not about us, of giving up the control we so long for, and choosing to say, ‘Not my will but yours be done.’
In the name of the one who died to make us free, Jesus Christ.
